November 17, 2009 Hello Oregon AMS Members and Friends, Welcome to the new Oregon AMS website. I'm very happy to report that we've been able to update this chapters page and I'm even more excited that it’s going to be a great place for us to not only follow the happenings of the chapter, but a place to track the weather and discuss it. A big thank you to John Rinier and Kyle Dittmer for a flawless handover and redesign. In the last few months, several big things have happened with the Oregon chapter. We were able to secure a LCD projector and screen for very cheap and it's already come in very handy. For those of you in attendance at OMSI for the annual Winter Weather Meeting, you were part of the largest crowd we've ever seen. I thank you for that. This chapter continues to grow and I'm so thrilled to see it. Thank you! With the social media explosion in full effect, I want to take a quick moment and let you know that according to national AMS numbers, the Oregon Chapter is the largest non school affiliated chapter on Facebook with over 60 members and counting. The Oregon AMS also has a strong following on Twitter. The countless blogs available to the weather community is also helping spread the word about the Oregon AMS. We will be working hard to post the video of the Winter Weather Meeting on this site very soon. I hear from people all over the area that aren't able to make it and the video will only help them feel a part of it. As the President of this chapter, it’s my job to make sure things run smoothly and things are done to make the members happy and keep them interested in the chapter. I can't do my job without the executive council. Each member has gone above and beyond just the duties assigned to them. I owe them such a huge thank you and I don't think I can express how much they mean to me. Here is the hardest working group of guys I know. You guys suggest cool ideas for meetings and you also step up and help when needed. We are a very large and active chapter. I'm very honored to be able to lead such a great group of people.
