This Year's Chapter Meetings:
Date:Tuesday, November 18th, 2014
Time:7:00 pm
Topic:Disseminating Accurate Weather Information in the Social Media Age
Speaker:David Reimer and Jenny Brown of The Texas Storm Chasers
Bio:David Reimer began chasing in the fall of 2008 and co-founded Texas Storm Chasers in March 2009. After storm chasing for a few years his focus began to shift after the September 2011 wildfires in Texas. It was during that event he realized the value of reliable social media information. David continues to run Texas Storm Chasers with that philosophy today. Not only does he pride himself on providing reliable weather information for Texans but also sharing real-time social media reports with National Weather Service offices across the state. David currently lives in Norman, Oklahoma but still visits North Texas frequently to visit with family.
Bio:Jenny Brown joined Texas Storm Chasers in early 2012 to assist with social media and the production of daily weather related blogs and forecasts. She soon began accompanying David on various storm chases during the 2012 spring storm chase season where she discovered a love for photography. By 2013, she began chasing on her own and now often ventures out with several local photographers and weather enthusiasts chasing all over the state each spring. Working with Texas Storm Chasers has allowed her to blend a lifelong love of meteorology with her camera skills to bring even more variety and interest to our followers. In addition to Texas Storm Chasers, Jenny works full-time at the Mary Kay headquarters in Dallas as a Risk Management Data Analyst. She is a native of Houston, and currently resides in Lakewood Village, north of Dallas, with her husband and twin 11 year old daughters, and her sons, ages 17 and 15.
