Our Mission
"The development and dissemination of the knowledge of meteorology in all its phases and applications and the advancement of its professional ideals."

Membership in the North Texas Chapter is open to anyone who has an interest in meteorology, pays chapter dues, and agrees to abide by the chapter's constitution.
Membership in the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association at the national level is encouraged, but is not required.

Speaker:Dr. Amanda Schroeder, Meteorologist

Bio:Dr. Amanda J. Schroeder earned her B.S. in Meteorology with a Minor in Mathematics in 2008 and her M.S. in Meteorology in 2010 from the University of Oklahoma (OU). While at OU, she was a student research assistant for the Oklahoma Climatological Survey from 2005 through 2010, where she worked on multiple research projects involving the Oklahoma Mesonet. In 2015, she completed a Ph.D. in Geography/Climatology from the University of Georgia under the guidance of Dr. J. Marshall Shepherd, 2013 American Meteorological Society (AMS) President. Dr. Schroeder’s expertise lies in urban meteorology, specifically hydrometeorological aspects of the urban climate. She has been an AMS member since 2006 and served as a board member for the AMS Board on the Urban Environment from 2012 through 2014. Dr. Schroeder began her National Weather Service (NWS) career in 2011 as a student volunteer at the Southeast River Forecast Center (SERFC) and NWS Weather Forecast Office (WFO) in Peachtree City, GA. In 2013, she moved back to the Plains and began a full time position at the NWS WFO in Fort Worth, TX. Aside from her weather and climate interests, she also enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, and their 2 children, as well as running, baking, music, and college football.
