American Red Cross PartnershipOne way to get involved with the Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is to sign up for their Disaster Services courses. The American Red Cross has set up a Fire/Weather house at each Downtown GetDown the Friday before each Florida State University home football game this year. They are looking for our help as volunteers to instruct children on what to do in case of a fire or dangerous weather situation. This is a great chance to get some volunteer hours and get out to our community and help educate. There are three different opportunities to get involved (Oct. 19, 26 & Nov. 16). Please let Charlie or any officer know if you are interested, as a brief training and informational session is needed prior to this event. Also, during October the Capital Area Chapter is working to recruit a large number of new Disaster Services volunteers and we need everyone to help by promoting the following Disaster Services training opportunities that will be hosted throughout the chapter’s eight counties. Listed below are the counties in which courses will be taught:
So please download, print and display the training flyers at your workplace and forward this e-mail to your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers encouraging them to volunteer today so that they can help during tomorrow's disaster response. In addition, please download, print and display the State of Florida Disaster Leave Law poster. If you would like more information, please read about Florida’s Disaster Leave Law.
