Charlie Woodrum - 2007-2008 President

Charlie Woodrum is a senior meteorology student at Florida State University. He comes to Florida State University from Morgantown, WV, pursuing a degree specializing in synoptic meteorology. He enjoys college football and basketball, storm chasing, forecasting, and simply watching the radar.

Throughout his undergraduate enrollment he has done a work study supervised by Bill Cottrill. During his work study, he has gained over 600 hours of experience at the Florida State University weather station, taking ozone and weather observations atop the Love Building. Charlie volunteered at the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pittsburgh in 2006, and he currently has an intern position with the NWS in Tallahassee as a SCEP.

Charlie also has volunteered at the national AMS meetings in Atlanta and San Antonio. At these events he realized the importance of communication between members of our chapter of the AMS with professionals in our field, fellow classmates, professors, and the public. Most recently, Charlie has headed up Project FSU StormReady, making Florida State University an NWS certified StormReady university.

Charlie served as the treasurer for the 2006-2007 chapter year. As treasurer, he headed up the Blockbuster car wash, Cici's Pizza fundraiser, and the 1st Annual North Florida AMS Mini-Golf Tournament at Fun Station. As president, it is very important to Charlie that all members feel comfortable at meetings, social events, and fundraising activities. Charlie highly values the thoughts and ideas of members and hopes to increase membership during his presidency.
