What is the AMS? |
The American Meteorological Society (AMS) is a professional organization of scientists with an interest in the atmosphere, hydrology, oceanography, and their interaction. The Society has local chapters across the country which meet to share knowledge and discuss the latest trends in these fields. Membership in the local chapter not only includes atmospheric scientists, but anyone with a special interest in learning more about weather-related topics. Teachers may find membership particularly useful for gaining contacts with the local weather community.
The Kansas City Chapter of the American Meteorological Society is recognized as an active, not-for-profit group. The national AMS maintains each local chapter's 501(c)(3) status document. Review the national AMS registry for details:
