Try your luck...or rather skill...at forecasting the weather for Anchorage.if you dare! Below are the six questions for this season's forecast contest. All observations are officially taken at the Anchorage Forecast Office except the pressure readings which are officially taken at the Anchorage International Airport. The deadline to enter is Friday, September 19th, 2008.
Please either email your forecasts to email@example.com or hand in your forecasts to one of our executive members (Jim Nelson, Louise Fode, Jackie Purcell, or Renee Wise) by September 19th. Make sure you answer all the questions in their entirety, including dates. Please also include your name with your forecasts. This contest is free of charge for all paid members. If you are not a member, there is a $5 fee to enter.
1.) Date of the first measurable snowfall and the amount to the nearest tenth of an inch?
2.) Total snowfall for Anchorage to the nearest tenth of an inch? (Snowfall recording period is from September 23rd to May 15th)
3.) Winter low temperature and date it will occur?
4.) Winter high temperature from December 1st to January 31st and date it will occur?
5.) Winter lowest AND highest pressure and dates they will occur? (Pressure reading period is from September 23rd to March 30th)
