  • The last Anchorage AMS Meeting for the year was held Friday May 16th.
    • Forecast contest winners were announced, check out the "Forecast Contest" Link on the left for the results
    • The Chapter Member of the Year was announced, our last years President Jim Peronto! Thanks for all your hard work Jim!
    • Chapter elections were held! The new Executive Pane for the '08-'09 seasonl is:
      • President: Jim Nelson
      • Vice President: vacant
      • Secretary: Jackie Purcell
      • Treasurer: Renee Wise
  • The Annual National AMS Meeting was held in New Orleans January 20 - 24. Jim Peronto, a member and last years chapter president, represented our Anchorage chapter at the meeting and unveiled the new chapter poster he created. Take a look at the poster here (Large file, 6MB).

The Anchorage Chapter of the American Meteorology Society was originally founded in 1941. The chapter's mission is the development and dissemination of the knowledge of atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences and the advancement of their professional applications. Additionally, our chapter provides the community with a social and scientific point of contact from meteorological, hydrological, and other related scientific interests. Chapter activities include monthly meetings with various speakers on weather related topics, field trips, science fair support, forecasting contests and social gatherings.
