Jen States is a senior energy specialist in the Technology Planning and Deployment group at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington. Prior to joining PNNL, she was managing director for JW Prairie Wind Power, LLC, a U.S. subsidiary of a German renewable energy company. She was responsible for all aspects of project development and business management including utility contract negotiations, wind analysis, turbine selection, site acquisition, community relations, proposal writing, project engineering, legal, regulatory and finance. Ms. States served on the Kansas Governor's Wind and Prairie Task Force and was a member of Senator Pat Roberts' Science and Technology Committee on Energy. Previously, she served on the Nebraska Wind Energy Task Force and the Nebraska Utility Restructuring Review Group. Ms. States has a B.S. degree in political science, with a minor in biology, and a focus on environmental studies from Nebraska Wesleyan University. She received the Morris K. Udall Scholarship for excellence in environmental leadership. Her interests include wind power project development, renewable energy project development, community outreach and education, and energy policy.
