Paul Roelle a former AMS Member, is the Deputy Chief of Integration, Plans and Requirements at the Headquarters of the United States Air Force in Washington, D.C. Before his current assignment Lt Col Roelle was the Commander of the 19th Expeditionary Weather Squadron, based at Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan. His team conducted battlefield weather operations across the Afghanistan theater in direct support of United States Army aviation and ground maneuver forces. During his twenty year career, he has served as Pacific Air Forces Chief of Airfield and Weather Operations and also as an Acquisition Meteorologist, Executive Officer, and Program Manager at the Air Force's Electronic Systems Center. He has commanded at the detachment level and is a graduate of the Army's Airborne School. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, he deployed twice and served as the Joint Meteorological Officer and the Staff Weather Officer to Multi National Corps-Iraq. While stationed in Asheville, North Carolina as the Director of Operations at the Air Force's Combat Climatology Center, Lt Col Roelle was the President of the Asheville AMS chapter. During his tenure, their Chapter was selected as the Chapter of the Year (2007). He graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a BS degree in meteorology and he has MS and PhD degrees in atmospheric science from North Carolina State University.
