Gary Rasmussen, an active AMS Member, is Director of Enterprise Activity Support at the American Meteorological Society in Boston, Massachusetts. He works with the AMS Commission on the Weather and Climate Enterprise to support activities of the weather, water, and climate community. Before joining the AMS staff in 1999 he held several positions in atmospheric science research, development, and management with Applied Insurance Research, MIT's Lincoln Laboratory, The Analytic Sciences Corporation (TASC), and the National Center for Atmospheric Research. He has a PhD degree in atmospheric science (1982), and an MS degree in physics (1974) from Drexel University, as well as a BA degree in mathematics and physics (double major; 1972) from the College of New Jersey. In addition to AMS, Dr. Rasmussen is a member of the Mathematical Association of America. Prior to college he was a radio and radioteletype operator and paratrooper with the United States Army's 82nd Airborne Division. Dr. Rasmussen and his wife Linda (a Registered Nurse, now retired) both were raised in New Jersey. Since 1984 they have resided in Londonderry, New Hampshire. They have four adult children.
