Craig Long is a research meteorologist in the Development Branch of NOAA's Climate Prediction Center. The focus of his research is monitoring and analyzing stratospheric variables (temperatures, winds, ozone, etc) and determining attributions for their variability and long term trends. Mr. Long participates in the development and validation of NCEP's reanalysis efforts. He is also the primary developer of the NWS UV Index forecast system and collaborates with the EPA's SunWise program to inform the public of the dangers of overexposure to solar radiation. Mr. Long has degrees in meteorology from the Pennsylvania State University (BS) and the University of Wisconsin at Madison (MS).
