David Gagne, an AMS Member, is a doctoral student in meteorology at the University of Oklahoma. His master's research focused on improving short-range precipitation forecasts from a storm-scale ensemble forecast system using varied machine learning techniques. His other research experiences focused on developing and applying machine learning techniques to improve storm classification, tornado prediction, and wind power forecasting. He is a current National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and student member of the AMS Artificial Intelligence Applications Committee. He has also served in multiple officer positions within the Oklahoma Weather Lab and Oklahoma Student Chapter of the AMS. During his undergraduate years, Mr. Gagne performed research through the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates program in Oklahoma and the NOAA Hollings Scholarship program in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
