DeWayne Cecil is
NOAA's Western Region Climate
Services Director in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Previously he was with NASA and the U.S. Geological Survey.
As a paleoclimatologist, Dr. Cecil studies past climate changes to help draw conclusions
about present trends.
He studies tree rings, lake sediments and other indicators of climate.
With NASA, he used satellite imagery to help view climatic trends, especially the
availability of water.
