American Meteorological Society,
a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization,
is the nation's leading professional society for people involved in the atmospheric and related
sciences. Founded in 1919, it has headquaters in Boston, Massachusetts and an office
in Washington, D.C.
Along with its more than
14,000 individual members,
and more than
170 corporation and institutional members,
AMS promotes the development and dissemination of information and education
on the atmospheric and related sciences and the advancement of their
professional applications through scientific journals, conferences, and
public education programs across the country.
AMS publishes 10 atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic journals—in
print and online, sponsors more than 12 conferences annually, and offers
numerous programs and services.
