
George
Frederick, a Certified Consulting Meteorologist, is President and Chief Executive
Officer of Falcon Consultants, LLC in Georgetown, Texas.
He also manages strategic development for
Vaisala Measurement Systems, a position he
has held since retiring as General Manager of Vaisala's Wind Profiler unit.
In that position he was instrumental in the development of commercial radar
wind and temperature profilers.
Mr. Frederick served as the first Commissioner of the AMS Commission of the
Weather and Climate Enterprise, and currently serves as Past Commissioner.
He is an AMS Fellow, was AMS President for 1999, and received the AMS Charles
Franklin Brooks Award in 2003 for outstanding service as President and for
leadership in promoting economic growth across all sectors of the Society.
Mr. Frederick began his career in meteorology as a weather officer in the
U.S. Air Force after graduating from the Air Force Academy with a B.S. degree
in engineering science, and earning an M.S. degree in meteorology from the
University of Wisconsin in Madison.
He retired as Commander of the Air Weather Service after 30 years on active duty.
Since then, the Air Weather Service and the Air Force Global Weather Center
have merged to become the Air Force Weather Agency.
During his military career, Mr. Frederick planned for the use of unmanned aerial
vehicles for weather reconnaissance, developed the roadmap for modernization of
the Air Weather Service, and directed planning for weather support for B-2 bombers.
While on active duty Mr. Frederick earned numerous awards including a Bronze Star
and the U.S. Air Force Legion of Merit. (2009-08)
