All Summer Policy Colloquium (SPC) Alumni & WAS*IS Alumni are invited to attend two unique functions this year at the AMS 88th Annual Meeting. We have also invited the International delegates attending the WMO meeting to provide opportunities for you to interact and network.

  1. On Sunday, Jan. 20 1:30pm board a motor coach with a local tour guide and travel through some of the hardest hit areas as the guide provides a timeline of events of that terrible August week. We’ll drive past an actual Levee that breached and see the resulting devastation that displaced hundreds of thousands of U.S. residents. The direct connection between America’s disappearing coastal wetlands, oil & gas pipelines, levee protection and hurricane destruction will be explained. This will provide some background for policy discussion within the group.

If due to your travel schedule you are unable to make the tour
please sign up for the dinner.

  1. On Sunday, Jan 20, 6pm, you are invited to a special dinner followed by an address from Admiral Conrad Lautenbacher, NOAA Administrator, at 8pm on the status of GEOSS and a panel conversation about GEOSS moderated by Rick Anthes, AMS President.

NEW ~ Joint Reception for SPC & WAS*IS Alumni
Tuesday, January 22, 2008 8-10pm
Windsor Room - Hilton Riverside Hotel

We hope everyone will take advantage of this opportunity to reconvene, reflect, and debrief about what they experienced on the tour and sessions they've attended.  This event will be open to anyone who wants to attend or learn more about the WAS*IS program or the AMS SPC program.  No need to RSVP for the reception.
