Options for Using
AMS Weather Studies Materials
Partner with the American
Meteorological Society to
teach weather your way!
A hallmark of AMS Weather Studies is the flexibility of course
implementation. The course can be offered using any combination of the AMS
Weather Studies textbook,
Investigations Manual, and
Course Website. The course is
adaptable to instructional settings ranging from traditional lecture/lab to
hybrid to totally online and can be used on a variety of schedules, including
semester/quarter, summer session, accelerated degree, or self-paced study.
Course materials are designed for easy integration with
course management systems. The most common approaches to using the course
materials are:
1. Use the full AMS Weather Studies course
package with emphasis on real-time weather - Instructors wanting to
have their students study weather as it happens may choose to use the textbook,
Investigations Manual introduction section, and Current Weather Studies
prepared twice per week in real time on the Course
Website. A license is required for this option. Go

Investigations Manual package for students.
2. Use the Weather Studies textbook and
Investigations Manual - Instructors wanting to prepare all materials
prior to the start of the term may choose to use the textbook and
Investigations Manual introduction and Applications sections. Website
material is commonly used as a supplement in this approach. A

3. Use the Weather Studies textbook
alone - The Weather Studies textbook is ideally suited for
introductory meteorology lecture courses in which students are not expected to
complete the investigations series. Textbook-only users have access to a
special Internet website that will deliver the Daily Weather Summary, current
weather products, and Math Skills applications. The textbook contains chapter
review and critical thinking questions. Course instructors receive a
complementary textbook and faculty resource CD. A license is not
required for this option, but please contact us
