Watches, Warnings, Advisories and Forecasts

The Watches, Warnings, Advisories and Forecasts section of the DataStreme Atmosphere Homepage displays information on current weather alerts and forecasted future conditions. The "Current NWS Weather Watches and Warnings" link goes to the NWS' Interactive Weather Information network that provides current national active weather warnings and advisories.

Following that are Forecast maps of data (Station model data) issued by the National Weather Service to cover twelve hour periods for the following two-days, shown as selected station models across the coterminous US. The data for that valid date and time include: temperature, dewpoint, wind direction and speed, sky cover and probability of precipitation conditions.

The Forecast maps are available for 12, 24, 36 and 48 hours after the time of initial data. The diagram below shows the legend for interpreting the data for each station as displayed in a station model on forecast maps. The complete explanation is given at the right for the station model example shown. Forecasts are updated twice each day based on the surface and upper air observations made at 0000Z and 1200Z.
