Jim Peronto

Jim Peronto is currently a TV Meteorologist for the Alaska Region of the National Weather Service.

Since 1993, Jim has focused his efforts in our 49th (and largest state), having begun his weather experience in at the Anchorage Forecast Officer as student. Always partial to the colder parts of the planet, he holds a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has worked exclusively in the Alaska Region, having held positions at the Kodiak Island and Anchorage Forecast Offices of the NWS.

Active in expanding the meteorological experience to others, Jim has been the Diversity Coordinator and the Co-Manager of the Federal Woman's Program in the Alaska Region. Since 2000, he has been President of the Anchorage Chapter of the AMS and the chapter made Honor Roll status for the 2002 Local Chapter of the Year Award under his leadership. Always busy, he has held other leadership positions within that chapter.
