Project Atmosphere

Project Atmosphere

sensing, analyzing, and forecasting

Project Atmosphere is a comprehensive teacher professional development course rooted in the atmospheric sciences. It is directed toward improving teacher effectiveness in generating interest and understanding in science, technology, and mathematics among pre-college students.

The AMS has a long-term interest in pre-college atmospheric science education. It serves the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences, and publishes atmospheric research journals.

Major components of Project Atmosphere include (a) the identification and training of a cadre of master atmospheric education resource teachers who will assist the AMS in training other pre-college teachers on atmospheric science topics, and (b) the development and implementation of scientifically accurate and pedagogically sound instructional resource materials for teachers.
