Submission Guidelines for Monographs

The interested author or editors should submit to the monograph chief editor (currently, the editor of the Meteorological Monograph Series) the following information:

  • the proposed author(s),
  • a detailed outline or table of contents,
  • a statement of the believed value to the society,
  • a statement of the proposed audience or market,
  • and an assessment of where this project fits into what already exists in journals or other books.

The appropriate monograph editor will determine whether the concept is suitable and feasible for consideration and subsequent publication.

Once this is determined to be the case, all chapters must be reviewed individually and as part of the whole. The review process should emulate that used for journal contribution, keeping in mind the differences in purpose and value.

At the conclusion of the process, the chief editor of the Monograph Series will review the product and ultimately make a recommendation to the AMS regarding publication.
