Dear Student:

The American Meteorological Society…What’s in it for you?

I invite you to explore the opportunities that the AMS offers you. Over 800 students joined the AMS during the last year because they believed that their annual dues was a smart investment. And I think that you will too. Did you know that...

  • AMS Student Membership is open to any student – graduate or undergraduate – enrolled at least half-time at a college or university?

  • Student Members may purchase journals, books, and CD-ROMs at a substantial savings and subscribe to Weatherwise magazine at a 20% discount?

  • Student Members can register for AMS conferences and workshops at a reduced rate, apply for scholarships, fellowships and travel grants, and enjoy free access to online career information?

  • Student Members can enjoy all the benefits of membership for just $15 per year?

The American Meteorological Society, founded in 1919, promotes the development and dissemination of information and education on the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. With a membership of more than 14,000 professionals, students, and weather enthusiasts, the AMS publishes nine atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic journals, sponsors more than 12 conferences annually, and offers numerous programs and services.

As you consider this offer, please remember that developing and maintaining a long-term relationship with you is important to us. To that end, we help recent graduates make the transition from Student Members to full Members with a discounted dues rate for up to five years after graduation. This Early Career Dues package is offered only to those who are Student Members of the Society at the time of graduation, therefore, it is important to join the Society now so that you can take advantage of the lower rate after earning your degree.

With Student Member dues just $15 per year, you can’t afford not to join. Applying for membership in the Society is easy. Simply complete a Student membership application and return it to us by fax or by mail.

Our Member Services department is available by e-mail at amsmem@ametsoc.org or by phone to 617-227-2425 to answer your questions regarding membership and the application process.

Sincerely,

Beth Farley
