The 41st Conference on Broadcast Meteorology is organized the AMS Board on Broadcast Meteorology and sponsored by the American Meteorological Society. The Seond Conference on Weather Warnings and Communication is organized by the AMS Board on Societal Impacts and the Committee on Severe Local Storms and sponsored by the American Meteorological Society. The conference will be held at the Sheraton Music City, Nashville, Tennessee, 26-28 June, 2013.

Accommodations

All meeting sessions for the conferences will be held at the Sheraton Music City, 777 McGavock Pike, Nashville, TN 37214. A block of rooms, including wireless internet access has been reserved at the hotel for meeting attendees at a special rate of:

Per diem rates are available for those who qualify, but the rate is limited to 30% of the room block. Rates do not include applicable state and local taxes, currently 15.25%, and are subject to change. No automatic or mandatory charges are tips, gratuities, or service charges for employees, unless otherwise expressly stated.
Rates will be available 3 days prior and 3 days after the Event Dates indicated in the Room Block, subject to availability of guest rooms at the time of reservation.

Reservations made after that date are on a space available basis. We urge you to make reservations early since space is limited.

An Opening Reception is being sponsored by the Exhibitors. It will be held on Wednesday evening, June 26th, 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Exhibit Hall (Hermitage Ballroom).

Suitcasing
Exhibitors at the 41th Conference on Broadcast Meteorology have invested and committed their support to this industry. They have planned for several months or more to bring the Attendees the experience they seek and deserve.

Suitcasing Policy: Only contracted Exhibitors are permitted to promote their products, services or company at the Meeting. All company promotion and product sampling must occur within the a contracted booth space. This includes, but is not limited to handing out flyers, approaching Exhibitor booths to sell products, and leaving and/ or distributing product information in public spaces and show floor aisles. Exhibitors found doing so will be sent back to their booth space and materials left will be confiscated and disposed of properly. Attendees will be asked to leave the show and forfeit their badge. Additional penalties may apply. Any “suit-casers” observed by both attendees and exhibitors should be reported to the Show Management immediately.

Americans with Disabilities Act

It is the Society's sincere desire to comply fully with both the letter and the spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. Attendees with special needs at the convention center should check with the AMS Meetings Department (617) 226-3968, four–six weeks prior to the meeting so that necessary services can be put into place such as CART, special print
services, or wheel chair accessible service for the hotel shuttle.

Special housing needs should also be requested when hotel reservations are made. AMS wants to ensure that each attendee's stay at the 41st Conference on Broadcast Meteorology and the Second Conference on Weather Warnings and
Communication is a pleasant and productive one.

Registration

1) On-line Registration: This option is available to AMS Members and nonmembers who are paying by credit card or purchase order. You can register on-line through the conference. Be sure to register by 26 April, 2013 for the lowest rates.

2) Download the registration form from the conference website. Return the completed registration form by fax (617) 249-0272 or mail to: 41BC/2WxWarn Meeting, 45 Beacon St., Boston, MA 02108.

3) On-site registration: The AMS registration desk at the Sheraton will be open for registration on Tuesday, 25 June from 3:30-7pm, and Wednesday-Friday during the hours of the conference.

Weird(er) Weather and a Changing Climate: Piecing Together the Puzzle
Tuesday, 25 June 2013
The nexus between weather anomalies and a warming climate will be the focus of a day-long, Tuesday, 25 June AMS "Short Course," a follow-up to a highly regarded short course on climate change conducted as part of the Portland, Oregon, broadcast meteorologists meeting in 2009. Managed by independent journalist and educator Bud Ward, editor of The Yale Forum on Climate Change, tuitions will be just $25 for up to 50 AMS short course registrants through a grant from program sponsor Climate Central of Princeton, N.J.

Registration will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until 14 June OR until the course capacity (50) has been reached. A faculty of climate/weather "household names" is being assembled to lead the session. More Information

Driving Directions to the Sheraton Music City

From East
Take Interstate 40 West to Donelson Pike/TN-255 North. Proceed on Donelson Pike and for approximately 0.8 miles and turn left onto Elm Hill Pike. Continue for approximately 1.0 mile and turn left on McGavock Pike. The hotel is located .6 miles on the left at the top of the hill.

From West
Take Interstate 40 East to Donelson Pike/TN-255 North. Proceed on Donelson Pike and for approximately 0.8 miles and turn left onto Elm Hill Pike. Continue for approximately 1.0 mile and turn left on McGavock Pike. The hotel is located 0.6 miles on the left at the top of the hill.

From South
Take Interstate 65 to Interstate 40 East (toward Knoxville). Continue on I-40 East to Donelson Pike/TN-255 and turn left on Elm Hill Pike. Travel approximately 1.0 mile and turn left on McGavock Pike. The hotel is on the left approximately 0.6 miles ahead on the top of the hill.

From North
Take Interstate 65 to Interstate 40 East. Continue on I-40 East to Donelson Pike/ TN-255 North. Proceed on Donelson Pike and for approximately 0.8 miles and turn left onto Elm Hill Pike.
