17th AMS/WMA Symposium on Planned & Inadvertent Weather Modification

The 17th Conference on Planned and Inadvertent Weather Modification, cosponsored by the American Meteorological Society and the Weather Modification Association, and organized by the AMS Committee on Planned and Inadvertent Weather Modification, will be held April 21-25, 2008 at the Westin Westminster in Westminster, Colorado (between Boulder and Denver).

hotel exteriorAttendees are responsible for making their own hotel arrangements. All meeting sessions for the conference will be held at the Westin Westminster, 10600 Westminster Blvd, Westminster, CO 80020. A block of rooms has been reserved at the hotel for meeting attendees at a special rate of $149.00 for single and double occupancy. To receive the special meeting rate, attendees must request a room under the American Meteorological Society block. For reservations, call the hotel reservation department at 303-410-5000 or toll-free at 1-800-WESTIN1.

You can also reserve a room online.  If you qualify for the government per diem rate, please visit AMS and WMA Government Rate Room Block.
If you need a room under the regular WMA/AMS block, please visit AMS and WMA Regular Rate Room Block.

Reservations must be made prior to 20 March, 2008 and must be accompanied by a one-night deposit. Reservations made after that date will be on a space available basis. These special rates will be available the weekend before and after the conference. We urge you to make reservations early since space is limited.

1) On-line Registration. This option is available to AMS Members and nonmembers
who are paying by credit card or purchase order. Please see the AMS homepage, Web address Select the “Meetings” link located at the top of the AMS homepage. Then select the Online Conference and Short Course Registration and follow the instructions. You can register online until 14 April, 2008. Be sure to register by 17 March, 2008 for the lowest rates.

2) Download the registration form from AMS homepage. Refer to Web address Select the “Meetings” link located at the top of the AMS homepage and follow these steps:
a) Select AMS Upcoming Meetings;
b.) Joint AMS 17th Conference on Planned & Inadvertent Weather Modification/Weather Modification Association Annual Meeting;
c) Download and print the registration form; and

dining3) On-site registration. The AMS registration desk at the Westin will be open for registration beginning Sunday April 20 from 5:00-7:00pm and continue during meeting hours for the remainder of the week.

Getting there
The Westin Westminster is conveniently located on the Boulder Turnpike, only 15 minutes from downtown Denver and 15 minutes from Boulder, Colorado.
Denver International Airport (DIA) is a mere 30 minutes away. Transportation is provided by SuperShuttle, taxi and Limousine Service.

Driving Directions
Enterprise is the official rental car agency for this meeting and special rates are available. Advance reservations may be made on-line at Select “Corporate Account” then “Make a reservation”. From DIA (East): Take Pena Boulevard to I-70 West, then to I-270 West and I-25 North. Continue to U.S. Highway 36 West and then to 104th Avenue East. Proceed one block to Westminster Boulevard and follow to the hotel.

From Downtown Denver (South): Take Speer Boulevard to I-25 North to U.S. Highway 36 West. Continue to 104th Avenue East. Then take Westminster Boulevard to the hotel.
From North I-25 South to U.S. Highway 36 West. Continue to 104th Avenue East. Continue to Westminster Boulevard to the hotel.
From West I-70 East to I-25 North. Continue to U.S. Highway 36 West and then to 104th Avenue East. Proceed one block to Westminster Boulevard and follow to the hotel.

From Boulder: Take Highway 36 East to 104th Avenue East. Then take Westminster Boulevard to the hotel.
