The AMS Career Fair, intended to facilitate the networking process for both applicants and recruiters, will be held in conjunction with the 89th AMS Annual Meeting (11 January – 15 January 2009) in Phoenix, Arizona.  The Career Fair is an excellent opportunity for companies, academic institutions, and government agencies to interact with individuals seeking employment or graduate school opportunities.  Participation in the AMS Career Fair is offered at no cost to job/graduate school seekers or recruiters.

Career Fair and Graduate School Reception
On the evening of Saturday, January 10, the Career Fair will open with a reception for the over 300 graduate students and junior and senior undergraduate students attending the 8th Annual AMS Student Conference.  This event is an ideal time to promote your organization, distribute literature on job vacancies and graduate school opportunities, and schedule interviews for later in the week.  As a participating employer or university, you will be assigned a table in order to display handouts and other information about your organization.

Career Fair – Annual Meeting Week
The Career Fair will continue on Sunday, January 11 through Tuesday, January 13.  While Saturday night’s opening reception is open only to participants in the Student Conference, the Career Fair may be visited by any registered Annual Meeting attendee during its regular hours of operation (Sunday 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. and Monday-Tuesday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.)

If you are interested in reserving a table for the opening night reception or for any day during the week of the Annual Meeting, please complete a reservation form and return it by fax to 617-742-8718 or by email to bfarley@ametsoc.org no later than 28 November 2008."

If you are unable to reserve table space or if you can’t attend the Annual Meeting, simply provide us with a copy of your job announcement(s) by 19 December and we’ll post them to our ‘Positions Available’ board.  Interested applicants will be encouraged to contact you via our Career Fair message board (for recruiters in attendance at the Annual Meeting) or to forward their resumes to you after the meeting.  Please submit job postings as an attached Word document or PDF by email to careerfair@ametsoc.org.  Those recruiters who are attending the meeting but cannot meet the deadline may drop off their announcement during the fair's hours of operation.

Career Fair and Graduate School Reception
On the evening of Saturday, January 10, the Career Fair will open with a reception for attendees of the 8th Annual AMS Student Conference. This is a great opportunity for you to meet with employer and graduate school representatives in an informal setting and to schedule interviews for later in the week.  There is no cost to attend this opening night reception but you must be registered for the Student Conference.  If you plan on attending the AMS Annual Meeting but are not eligible for the Student Conference, you may attend the Career Fair during its regular hours of operation (Sunday 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. and Monday-Tuesday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.)

Career Fair – Annual Meeting Week
The Career Fair continues on Sunday, January 11 through Tuesday, January 13.  The Career Fair is an excellent opportunity to interview on-site, one-on-one, with organizations looking to recruit highly talented individuals.  View available employment opportunities, present resumes to employers who are seeking qualified applicants, and apply for positions all in one convenient location…and all at no cost! - 5:00 p.m.).

While it is not necessary to register for participation in the Career Fair, you are encouraged to submit your resume to AMS Headquarters by 2 January.  All resumes that are received by this date will be forwarded to interested employers and graduate schools after the meeting.  Resumes may be submitted as an attached Word document or PDF to careerfair@ametsoc.org.  If you cannot meet the deadline of 2 January, you may drop off your resume during the Career Fair's hours of operation.  All resumes will be on display at the Career Fair Information Desk for the week of the Annual Meeting.

We regret that we cannot accept resumes from those not registered for either the Student Conference or the Annual Meeting.
