The American Meteorological Society would
like to invite you to take part in the Third Annual WeatherFest at
the AMS 84th Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington, Sunday, 11 January
2004 from 12—4 p.m.
WeatherFest is an interactive four-hour science and weather fair designed to promote the fascinating field of meteorology, oceanography and related sciences to Seattle area families, students and teachers. WeatherFest will feature more than 40 cool science exhibits including hands-on experiments, educational information, career guides and much more.
WeatherFest, which is open to the general public free of charge, will include hands-on science experiments and exhibits geared to all ages. It is a great opportunity to talk with the scientists providing daily forecasts and doing research to improve future predictions and learn about careers in meteorology and oceanography with first hand exposure to the opportunities. Career brochures and scholarship information will be available.
Last year, more than 700 people from the Long Beach area helped build anemometers, learned about ocean currents, explored the physics of lightning, made clouds, met their local television meteorologists, and took home many great educational materials.
You too can be part of this exciting program. If you are interested in being
an exhibitor or conducting hands on demonstrations please complete
and return this participant form via FAX to: Melissa Ficek at 202/737-9033 or
